AIM: A patient with recurrent urethral strictures and the treatment of this strictures with consecutive bulbar urethral stent placement are aimed.
CASE: 42-year-old male patient was admitted to our clinic with complaints of thinning in urinary stream and urinary stress while micturition. He had no perineal trauma and urethritis story before. The patient's physical examination, blood and urine laboratory results were normal. Approximately 2 cm in length bulbar urethral stricture was detected with uroflowmetry and cystoscopy. Stricture was treated by internal urethrotomy. After the first operation we performed the same operation three times more, for the same stricture because of the recurrence. Approximately 8 months later, after the stent placement to the bulbar urethra, patient symptoms occured again, when we performed cystoscopy to patient we realized an urethral stricture about 1 cm length, at the end of the distal part of the bulbar urethral stent (Figure 1) and then we performed 2 times more internal urethrotomy to this new stricture (Figure 2). But it was recurred again. And then we inserted second bulbar urethral stent to the new stricture region at the distal end part of the first stent. The patient's complaints showed no recurrence after the 5 months of follow up.
CONCLUSION: Urethral stricture is a disease that can be repeated frequently. Today, among the treatment options for this disease, ureteral stents are preferred because of easy to apply and easy removable. In this case we showed that a second urethral stent can be placed succesfully for a new urethral stricture which can be seen at the border of the first urethral stent without the removal of the first urethral stent.
